Websites, tags, and blogs...oh my!!

Wow!! I'm all computered out. My web assignment for LIS 2600 was my undoing. We were to create a website. I'm sure you can't tell from my advanced blogging skills that I’m a complete dunce when it comes to creating websites, using unix, html, or anything computer related. All this technology is more than my feeble mind can handle. I was always in favor of gun control but…I’m thinking a gun would come in handy about now. Computers beware!!

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most!

I think that about sums it up. I'm trying to finish several assignments and at this moment nothing makes sense. So I've come to the conclusion that I've lost my mind somewhere along the way...sob.

Bad Blogger

I’ve been a bad blogger. BAD Blogger! I wish there was more time in the day to spend whiling it away with nonsensical musing on this blog. But there just isn’t, not that anything I have to say is super profound. Since it’s required, here are some musings I found to amuse and entertain…

If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done?

If someone gives you a penny for your thoughts, and you put your two cents in, where does the other penny go? Do you get change?

Why do they call it "getting your dog fixed," when afterward, it doesn't work anymore?

Who was the first to see a cow and think "I wonder what will happen if I squeeze these dangly things and drink whatever comes out?

If you learn from mistakes, why aren't I a genius?

If you want to try and answer more unanswerable questions go to this site.

Wanna-be Wonder Woman

I've often wanted to be Wonder Woman. I even had a pair of Wonder Woman Underoos when I was a kid, running around the neighborhood dispensing justice. When she wasn't in her red and blue getup, I always thought she fit the stereotypical Librarian look. If only I had her super powers I might be able to catch up on all my school work. Ahhh...a girl can dream.

All hail the conservationist Nicholas Baker. I have to admit I’m not a newspaper reader, but I can appreciate the beauty and information stored within their pages. After reading Double Fold and going to his website I can appreciate all the work he has done to save newspapers. Just looking on his website you can see the marked difference in quality between the original papers and microfilm. The subtle colors and shades are completely lost on microfilm. Thanks to Baker there are original copies to be admired.

smooshed

Here is a great picture of all six (except me and the 2 people in the front) of the St. Croix Cohort and I can't forget Sharon from St. John, all trying to smoosh into a minivan. I think we got to know each other a little too well in that vehicle.

VI Cohort

Here is the Virgin Island Cohort in all its glory. It really was great meeting everyone. Now I know who to call when my hard drive is acting up and when I'm about to go postal. Sadly our weekend wasn't all fun and games. When I got home all I wanted to do was sleep for a week, but alas I had to go to work…sigh.

Panic

My slim hard drive was just possessed by a horrible computer gremlin. He was creating error after error and denying me access to all my saved data. All I wanted to do was hit the panic button and make it all stop. I tried everything to recover the data; download a new BIOS, check the software on the dealer's website, plugged it into another computer...and nothing. I tried not to completely freak out. My roommate was being very helpful in between the giggles. As a final resort I took apart the drive's enclosure and realized it wasn't connected. The mixture of relief and stupidity was extremely overwhelming.

Joyfully Arrived

We arrived in St. Thomas alive and in one peice. I did the dance of joy, Pee Wee Herman style. Here is poor Celia, our reluctant co-pilot. She has my hearfelt thanks for taking the suicide seat on our teeny tiny plane. Tomorrow I get to meet the other members of the VI cohort.

Cause I’m leavin’ on a jet plane, don’t know when I’ll be back again

I finished my review of The Structure of Scientific Revolutions, and I can say that with a great sigh of relief. Now I'm off to St. Thomas to meet the other members of the Virgin Islands cohort. I'll be traveling in a teeny tiny plane. Thankfully it's only a 15 minute trip. The worst is if they stick you up next to the pilot. Its nerve racking since the co-pilot controls are right in your lap. Hopefully my next blog will be from the island of St. Thomas, if I make it in one piece.
