Back where I started

I feel as though I'm waking up from a long nap. So I guess it's fitting that I start posting again now that I'm headed back to Ireland in a few months. It has been almost 2 years and a lot has happened. I finally got my MLIS not without considerable effort and my life has taken many twists and turns.
I'm sure Ireland will bring many adventures just as it did before. Hopefully I'll enjoy the trip more this time, not having to worry about school. The Irish have a saying:
May you have the hindsight to know where you’ve been,
The foresight to know where you are going,
And the insight to know when you have gone too far.

On the way home

I find myself back where I started. Having traveled throughout Ireland, I'm now back in Galway on my way home to St. Croix. It's was quite an eventful trip, but I can honestly say it's been fun. Learning step dancing, some Gaelic and seeing the sites is very tiring and I'm ready for bed.

Worry in Ireland

Being in Ireland has been quite a time. I’ve stressed over portal assignments, papers, and not having any internet connections. Finally I found a sign that summed it all up so I thought I’d share it.

Irish Philosophy

There are only two things to worry about

either you are well or you are sick.

If you are well,

Then you have nothing to worry about.

If you are sick,

There are two things to worry about.

Either you get well or you die.

If you get well,

There is nothing to worry about.

If you die,

There are two things to worry about.

Either you go to heaven or hell.

If you go to heaven,

You have nothing to worry about.

But if you got to hell,

You’ll be so damn busy shaking hands

with your friends.

You won’t have time to WORRY.

Emotional rollercoaster

I’m finally in Ireland! When I first planned this trip I was really excited, now I’m ready to kill. When I realized my passport expired I should have know more bad things were to come. I paid the big bucs to expidite my passport and I played the waiting game. I got it 2 days before I was to leave, there was major panic involved in that whole transaction. Then I had my super fun 9 hour layover in one of the lamest airports ever, and just when I think things are starting to look up...I’m stuck in Shannon airport. The car I booked way in advance wasn’t ready and now I’ve already waited 2 and 1/2 hours for an automatic. Why oh why didn’t I learn standard? I just pray this trip gets better, it has too, right?!?

waiting

I'm sitting here in the Boston airport whiling away my 9 hour layover. (I'm definitely going to need a drink when I finally reach Ireland.) I'm struggling with their wi-fi. It seems to dislike Mozilla as a browser. Anti-open souce airport!

Absent Passport

I’m packed and ready to go, but I'm still waiting for my passport. I have this strong urge to go down to the passport office and yell at someone. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has had these urges since they have bullet proof glass and a security guard in place. 2 weeks is an outrageous amount of time for an expedited passport. As you might have surmised I'm not the most patient person. Unfortunately all I can do is wait since I have no other option.

Quiz time fun

I should be in a pub right this minute, but I'm not yet in Ireland and I still don't have a passport. Poor me, but I thought I'd still post this fun picture and try to find quizzes that I could pass on to all of you library science geeks.

I'm kind of a novice when it comes to the Dewey Decimal System. I work in a book store and the most advanced filing system we have is the alphabet. So, I thought I'd test my knowledge out with this quiz and boy do I need some work. Check it out, Do the Dewey! And if you’re feeling extra smart try, Library Science Jeopardy. These quizzes might be more difficult if you were in a pub with a pint in hand. Enjoy!
